SITE has a session planned for Spring 2024. Our team in charge of Train the Trainer is currently reaching out to individuals that are on our waiting list to be a part of this session. If those individuals cannot participate within this Train the Trainer session, then we will open registration to the broader public.

What is Train the Trainer?

Are you new to training, craving more knowledge on adult learning theory and instructional design, or just looking for a way to hone your facilitation skills while meeting learning professionals just like you? If you answered yes to any of the above, then SITE’s Train the Trainer program is for you! SITE has partnered with The Institutes to provide you with a valuable industry-recognized certification.

Online learning

SITE Train the Trainer offers self-paced modules and live online sessions facilitated in a virtual classroom. You will engage with others and learn world-class content in small chunks without having to travel.

 

Content includes:

  • Understanding adult learning fundamentals
  • Analyzing and communicating the need for training
  • Designing for instruction
  • Developing instructional materials and activities
  • Delivering instruction
  • Creating evaluations

 

Sharper skills

The live online sessions complete your learning. In addition to interacting with facilitators presenting learning content, you will participate in breakout activities to enrich your classroom management and presentation skills.

 

Real-world experience

As you progress through the course, you will create a short presentation designed to demonstrate your mastery of the content. After your presentation you will receive valuable feedback from your peers and facilitators to take with you.

Our Certified Facilitators

Mary Bruggeman

Mary Bruggeman joined Great American Insurance Group in 2005.  Prior to this she worked for State Farm in the field handling complex auto claims.  At Great American she worked on a Casualty claims team, holding positions of increasing responsibility, including Casualty Claim Manager for the division.  In 2008 Mary moved internally to Corporate Claims to found the Claims College.  She has responsibility for the technical Claims College offerings, the Claim Trainee Program, the Claim Mentorship Program, P&C Claims intranet and secured sites, and other professional development and resource programs for the organization’s claims staff. 

Mary graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a Bachelor of Science, double majoring in Economics and Human Resources.  She earned her MBA with a focus in International Business from Xavier University.  She has several designations from The Institutes, including her CPCU, AIC and AIC-M, AU, AIM, AIS, AMIM, ARM and ARM-P, ARe, and ASLI.  She also holds the Society of Insurance Trainers and Educators (SITE) Insurance Training Professional (ITP) designation.  

In October of 2019 Mary was named Insurance Professional of the Year by the Cincinnati CPCU Society.  Mary has presented at both the SITE (Society of Insurance Trainers and Educations) and PLRB Conferences.  Mary lives in Cincinnati with her husband Mike and their three children, Joseph (12) and twins, Thomas and Kate (9).  Mary and Mike lived in Europe for two years after they were married, and as a result, Mary loves traveling and all types of food!  She enjoys spending time with her family and hiking the National Parks.

Evelyn Jorgensen

Evelyn Jorgensen is a results-oriented, dedicated training professional with 20+ years in developing comprehensive training solutions. Evelyn works with people at all levels of their career in high-stress situations and holds the prestigious ITP designation. Evelyn is highly skilled in training needs analysis, design, development and adult learning theory. Evelyn has a long history with the SITE organization and has served in various board roles. Evelyn is an exciting trainer and facilitator to engage with in the virtual classroom, and your Train the Trainer program is in great hands with Evelyn at the helm!

Patrick Wraight 

Patrick is the Director of Insurance Journal’s Academy of Insurance. As an insurance learning professional, he is passionate about taking the complicated and making it accessible for everyone, especially the insurance community. He started his insurance career as a commercial underwriter for an MGA that wrote fire departments, ambulance companies, home medical equipment dealers, and other niche markets. It was there that he also started his journey in insurance education by designing and implementing a new underwriter training program. From there, he moved to one of the largest Florida-based property insurers to become an underwriter trainer. While there, his role expanded beyond classroom and online training to become a learning consultant. He spent time with his customers to determine their learning needs and develop a plan to meet those needs.

Patrick has earned several industry designations:

  • CRM (Certified Risk Manager)
  • CISR (Certified Insurance Service Representative)
  • AU (Associate in Commercial Underwriting)
  • AINS (Associate in General Insurance).

Patrick is also the 2021-22 President of SITE, the Society of Insurance Trainers and Educators.

Nancy Germond

Nancy is a former private and public sector risk manager and claims manager with property casualty and strong workers' compensation experience. She has published scores of risk-related articles and am a frequent presenter on topics ranging from customer service in claims handling to surviving the claims audit.

Nancy's specialties include human resource trends in the insurance industry, writing, claims management, claims auditing, and training. She also provides litigation consulting services on liability claims handling and valuation.

Nancy has extensive experience in liability and workers' compensation claims management, developing and managing return-to-work programs.

Sharon Koches

Sharon is an experienced Vice President of Insurance Operations with a demonstrated history of working in the insurance industry. She is skilled in Property & Casualty Insurance, Insurance Education and Training, Sales, Sales Operations, and Customer Satisfaction. Sharon is a strong insurance professional graduating from Capella University. Sharon currently holds the CPCU, RPLU, AAI, AU, ITP insurance designations, and she served as President of the International CPCU Society in 2021, and immediate past president in 2022.

Barbara Gavitt

Barbara is the Vice President of Product Development and Education for A.D. Banker in Overland Park, Kansas. She has over 30 years of training and curriculum development experience in the insurance and financial services industry. She is also currently serving as the Immediate Past President of the Securities and Insurance Licensing Association (SILA).

Barb is a polished speaker and has presented at local and national training events for major insurance companies and various industry organizations. Recent presentations include speaking at the Society of Insurance Trainers & Educators (SITE) Annual Conference, the Insurance Summit NIPR Conference, the Securities and Insurance Licensing Association (SILA) National Education Conference, and the Sircon for States Insurance Summit. She has also hosted numerous webinars for SITE, SILA, and WIFS (Women in Financial Services).

Barb has earned a Certificate in Distance Education from Indiana University and the Insurance Training Professional (ITP) designation from the Society of Trainers and Educators. She is also an Associate Trainer for the International Board of Certified Trainers (IBCT) and the CDEI* designation (Certified Distance Education Instructor) from International Distance Education Certification Center (IDECC).

Current industry involvement includes being named as the Steering Committee Chairperson for the SILA Education and Training Subgroup (SETS) and SILA Board of Directors as the President-Elect. She served as the SILA Education Director as well as the Education Trustee for the SILA Foundation Board of Directors for 6 years, SILA President-Elect, President (2020), and is currently the Immediate Past President . She is also a facilitator for the SITE Train the Trainer program.

Kimberly Levitt is a former Director of Learning & Development surrounded by positive and creative people dedicated to improving operational efficiency, productivity and profitability through collaboration, innovative training, and adherence to quality and established best practices. Retirement has provided the freedom and flexibility to see family in different states. When not traveling, she spends her time outdoors with her husband.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Registration Cancellation: Should a registrant determine they are unable to participate in their selected course a variety of options are available based on the cancellation date. SITE's Cancellation Policy form is included here for your review and includes details on course refund, course transfer and participant transfer. 
No-shows will be billed for any unpaid registration fees. 

Program Cancellation: The Live Session portion of the Train-the-Trainer Program requires a group of sufficient size to support the planned activities and promote the engagement of the attendees. This minimum for the ALL new virtual session is 5. If SITE determines that the number of enrollees is insufficient to constitute such a group, the class will be cancelled and you will be notified before you begin the online portion of the Program. You may choose to have your tuition refunded or credited toward a future Train-the-Trainer Program. You will also receive a similar notice and the choice of a refund or re-enrollment for a future Program if the number of enrollees exceeds the class limit. SITE, in its sole discretion, will determine whether the number of enrollees meets the requirements for a class.
